In the realm of creativity, Vera Deans stands as a testament to the boundless possibilities that art offers. A qualified fashion designer, mixed media artist, printmaker, digital artist, and amateur photographer, Vera’s journey through the diverse avenues of artistic expression is both intriguing and inspiring.

Vera’s artistic exploration knows no bounds. She thrives on experimenting with various non-traditional ideas and methods, producing sometimes bizarre yet captivating artworks inspired by her vivid imagination and dreams. From collages crafted with paper cutouts to digital marvels, Vera seamlessly weaves her artistic narrative. Her photographs serve not only as captured moments but also as wellsprings of inspiration for her paintings and illustrations.

Recently, Vera rekindled her love for mosaics, embarking on the creation of mosaic artworks on substrate backing. Her enthusiasm for this art form is palpable, and it adds a new dimension to her already diverse portfolio. Additionally, she crafts polymer clay and resin jewelry, showcasing her versatility as an artist even within the constraints of time.

Art, for Vera, is not merely a skill; it is an intrinsic part of her being. With a visual mind attuned to the beauty of colors and textures, she navigates the artistic landscape with a profound thirst for knowledge. Her love for flowers and the natural world finds expression in her creations, making her art a vibrant reflection of her soul, emotions, and mind.

The driving force behind Vera’s artistic endeavors is the need for self-expression, a cathartic journey that provides solace and fulfillment. Her personal life, marked by challenges and loss, has only intensified her commitment to art. As a full-time carer for her son Aaron, who has Autism/Aspergers, Vera finds solace in the world of art, a world where creativity knows no bounds.

Vera’s story is one of resilience and dedication. Prior to caring for Aaron, she was a devoted carer for her husband Phil, who battled long-term illness, and her mother, who lived with them until her passing. Despite the hardships, Vera’s passion for art remained unwavering, a testament to the transformative power of creativity in the face of adversity.

Vera’s artistic journey is marked by a rich tapestry of experiences. She successfully completed part-time art classes, notably excelling in printmaking at Brougham Art School, Geelong. Her thirst for knowledge led her to complete short courses in diverse art forms such as China painting, calligraphy, jewelry making, millinery, and mosaics, showcasing her commitment to continuous learning and growth.

One of Vera’s notable works, titled “Mind Garden,” provides a glimpse into her imaginative world. This mixed media painting, created for a group exhibition at Red Rock Theatre and Gallery in Cororooke, Colac, Australia, is a testament to Vera’s flourishing creativity. Crafted with metallic inks and fineliner, the artwork is an embodiment of her mind teeming with colors, fantasy, and boundless imagination.

As Vera Deans continues her artistic journey, her creations serve as windows into a world where creativity knows no limits. Her story is one of resilience, passion, and an unwavering dedication to the transformative power of art. In every stroke, photograph, and mosaic piece, Vera leaves an indelible mark on the canvas of artistic expression.
