The Brooklyn Museum acquired more than 300 works of art this year for its collection, with a particular focus on adding works by Black and Asian-American artists, as the museum continues to expand its holdings.

The acquisitions span multiple mediums and time periods, with a large focus on contemporary art. Some highlights include works by Liza Lou, KAWS, Whitfield Lovell, Ebony G. Patterson, Tyler Mitchell, Yto Barrada, Hisako Hibi, Jenna Gribbon, Rashid Johnson, and Valie Export. Several of these new acquisitions are part of the museum’s forthcoming American Art galleries, which are slated to open next year. Additionally, the museum acquired historical and contemporary pieces by international artists, like Esther Mahlangu and Gim Jeong-hui.

Brooklyn Museum director Anne Pasternak said in a statement, “We are grateful for the generous support of our benefactors, who help us build a collection that sparks awe and wonder, bridges our humanity, and illuminates important historical stories. It is a privilege to welcome these remarkable and meaningful contributions to our collection and to share them with our visitors.”

Below, ARTnews has compiled some examples from the collection.
