Born in the scenic town of Summerland, BC, in 1975, Trevor Phillips is a Canadian artist. His journey into the realm of creativity began at a tender age, displaying an innate passion and skill that would shape his artistic career. Though he received some formal training, Trevor predominantly identifies as a self-taught artist, with his school art classes serving as an early platform for his skills.

Over the years, Trevor’s distinctive style and innovative approach to art have garnered attention from various galleries across Canada. Notably, he has been featured at the renowned Kimoto Gallery and Le HangArt. His artwork has not only graced gallery walls but has also found its way into the pages of publications. Trevor’s contributions can be found in the collaborative book, “Pursuit:365,” alongside numerous other artists and professionals. Moreover, his unique perspective on art has been highlighted in articles in magazines such as Fresh Magazine.

One of the hallmarks of Trevor Phillips’ art is his penchant for crafting pieces inspired by comic and 80s pop culture. His subjects range from animals and models to icons and superheroes, each portrayed with a distinctive emotional lens. Through his art, Trevor brings a fresh perspective to these revered figures, shedding light on overlooked expressions and nuances. His skill with color, scale, and photo montage allows him to create artworks that resonate with viewers.

A prime example of Trevor’s artistic prowess is his piece titled “U Got The Look” (2018). Measuring 40”x40”, this acrylic paint on cradled wood panel with a resin finish encapsulates the essence of his work. “It’s all in the look. The eyes. The expressions. The energy,” Trevor succinctly describes his creation. True to his words, the artwork emanates a powerful energy, drawing viewers in with its captivating gaze and emotive presence. Through this piece, Trevor invites us to delve deeper into the world of art and explore the myriad of emotions and stories that lie beneath the surface.

Trevor Phillips’ upcoming exhibition at Galerie 203 in Montreal showcases more of his creations. With each new piece, Trevor reaffirms his belief in the transformative power of art and its ability to inspire, provoke thought, and evoke emotions.

In Trevor’s own words, “The paths we take and what we learn in life become tools to help us find our successes. We can learn a lot by observing nature, each other, and the world around us if we all take the time to look.” This philosophy resonates deeply with his art, reflecting his commitment to exploring and understanding the world around him. Through his unique artistic vision, Trevor Phillips invites us to join him on a journey of discovery, encouraging us to appreciate the beauty, complexity, and wonder that surround us.
