Sarah Pye, a professional artist for many years, is inspired by light, nature, and impressionism. Her desire is to take everyday scenes and turn them into something magical. In a world where many things are dark, she considers it a privilege to create light, whether literally or figuratively. Her art often depicts joy and happiness, both real and surreal.

Pye’s work is characterized by its bold use of color and love of contrast. She creates large impressionist paintings freely and intuitively, without preliminary sketches or plans. Instead, she starts with a blank canvas, lots of paint, and the excitement of an idea inspired by an exquisite view or image. Nature’s color, light, and life are always foremost in her mind as she drops, dribbles, and splashes acrylics with impressionist expression.

Each piece undergoes many layers, with Pye often working on two or three paintings at a time due to the necessary drying periods between each layer. Her work evolves naturally, and some pieces are almost pointillist in appearance when complete.

Pye’s upbringing on Devonshire beaches and by the river in Henley-on-Thames, coupled with 15 years of working outside as a gardener, has deeply influenced her art. She has seen and felt the seasons change and nature’s responses, which are reflected in her paintings. Whether it’s dappled woodland lights, atmospheric moorland scenes, vibrant coastal views, or an explosion of wildflowers, Pye’s paintings are a visual interpretation of the natural emotions felt when seeing nature’s never-ending beauty.

One of Pye’s notable works is “Spring Dawn,” which measures 108x108cm framed. This stylized piece features layers of dropped acrylics overlaid with traditional pointillism, creating a fantasy scene of the rising sun early on a spring morning. The pinks and turquoise against the cloud-studded cobalt sky are fresh and clash with clarity, capturing the essence of a vibrant spring dawn.

In conclusion, Sarah Pye is an artist who captures the magic of everyday scenes, transforming them into something extraordinary. Through her art, Pye invites viewers to see the world through her eyes, where every moment is an opportunity for beauty and wonder.
