Lisa Winand, a Florida-based artist, has a deep connection to both graphic design and fine art. Her journey started in Maryland, where she was born, but her creative roots blossomed in Florida, where she has spent most of her life. After high school, Lisa attended York Academy of Arts in Pennsylvania, a traditional art school that gave her foundational training in fine art. She later earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Miami International University of Art and Design, which led to a long career in the field of design. However, a couple of years ago, Lisa felt a pull to return to her fine art roots, reconnecting with a more personal and spiritual form of creative expression.

Lisa’s artwork often explores the connections between nature and spirituality. Her process is heavily influenced by visions and messages she receives during meditation. This intuitive approach results in pieces that reflect her inner work, translating the feelings and thoughts she experiences into visual form. For Lisa, painting is a meditative practice where ego fades, and she becomes immersed in a state of creative flow. This personal engagement with her work is evident in the spiritual energy she imbues into each piece, guided by specific intentions that she sets.

One of her works, Seize the Opportunity – Alligator Totem, is a 12″x16″ watercolor and ink piece on paper. The alligator, a recurring spirit animal in Lisa’s dreams, symbolizes trusting one’s instincts, especially when making decisions or pursuing opportunities. The alligator totem also serves as a reminder to act decisively and confidently, knowing that the chosen path is the right one. Lisa’s choice of an alligator reflects her deep connection to nature and how she draws meaning from the world around her. This connection is not just literal, but symbolic, with animals, plants, and natural elements serving as spiritual guides and symbols in her work.

Lisa’s technique is distinct and meticulous. She primarily works in watercolor, often combining it with white ink to achieve precision. Her application of paint is relatively dry, allowing her to create the intricate details that define her pieces. The result is artwork that feels rich in both color and texture, with a storybook quality that invites viewers into a magical, yet grounded world. Her art combines impeccable drafting with delicate details, bringing a sense of intimacy to her work. Every piece feels thoughtfully crafted, infused with both personal and universal themes.

For Lisa, each artwork is accompanied by intuitive writing, providing viewers with a deeper understanding of the piece’s message and intention. This combination of visual art and writing offers a unique experience, where the artwork becomes more than just an image; it’s a spiritual guide, crafted with intention and energy. The writing serves as a bridge, helping viewers connect with the deeper meanings behind the visual elements, while also offering insight into the process that shaped the piece.

Beyond her personal connection to spirituality and nature, Lisa’s return to fine art marks a reconnection with her own creative roots. After years working as a graphic designer, a field that demands a certain level of practicality and structure, Lisa has embraced the more free-flowing, intuitive world of fine art. This transition highlights a shift in her artistic focus—from creating for others in a commercial setting to creating from within, for herself and those who resonate with her spiritual themes.

In many ways, Lisa’s journey reflects a search for balance between the structured and the spiritual, the practical and the intuitive. Her work is the result of this search, an embodiment of her efforts to bring together these different aspects of her life. In her fine art practice, Lisa has found a way to integrate her graphic design background with her spiritual journey, creating work that feels both precise and ethereal.

Lisa’s story is one of transformation, of listening to the inner voice that calls for deeper creative exploration. Through her meditative painting process, her connection to the natural world, and her dedication to creating with intention, Lisa has crafted a body of work that reflects not only her personal journey but also universal themes of intuition, spirituality, and the importance of trusting oneself.

Her return to fine art marks not only a career shift but a reawakening of her artistic spirit. The energy she pours into her work resonates with viewers who, like Lisa, seek connection with the natural world and their own inner truths. As Lisa continues to create, she invites others to join her in this spiritual exploration, offering her work as both a visual and intuitive guide.
