Miriam Innes, born in 1979 in Ireland and currently residing in Queensland, Australia, stands as a visual artist known for her charcoal drawings and installations. Innes’s artistic prowess has left an indelible mark, with her work showcased not only in various places of Australia but also on the international stage. Exhibitions in the United States, Germany, the Republic of Ireland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the Republic of Korea have brought her distinctive pieces to a global audience. Miriam Innes’s creations find a home in private collections across the United States, United Arab Emirates, Ireland, and Australia.

The artist’s recent accomplishments include curating the highly acclaimed flood commemorative exhibition titled ‘22.96 / receding’ at the Gympie Regional Gallery. Innes played a pivotal role as the lead artist in this emotionally resonant project. Additionally, she was invited to participate in the 12th Floating Land Biennale in 2023.

One of Innes’s projects is ‘New York Rambling,’ a touring endeavor that commenced in 2019. This project features large-scale charcoal drawings capturing the essence of New York City. Originating from Innes’s desire to create an intimate and escapist experience, ‘New York Rambling’ was initially envisioned as a 360-degree installation for Logan Art Gallery in Queensland, Australia. However, the project’s evolution has seen it adapt seamlessly to different gallery settings, offering viewers a range of display options.

What sets ‘New York Rambling’ apart is its adaptability and versatility. Innes, with great craftsmanship, has ensured that the project can transform itself to suit various gallery environments. The project, now spanning an expansive 30-meter drawing, has incorporated interactive experiences using augmented reality. This addition not only enhances the visual spectacle but also engages the audience in a dynamic and participatory manner, breathing life into the charcoal-rendered streets of New York.
